چکیده
The dwindling of global petroleum deposits and worsening environmental issues have triggered researchers to find an alternative energy such as biodiesel. Biodiesel can be produced via transesterification vegetable oil or animal fat with alcohol in the presence a catalyst. A heterogeneous catalyst at economical price has been studied widely for biodiesel production. It was noted that various types natural waste shell are potential calcium resource generation bio-based CaO, comparable chemical characteristics, greatly enhance activity. However, CaO catalyzed is limited its stability studies shown deterioration catalytic reactivity when reused several cycles. For this reason, different approaches reviewed present study, which focuses on modification waste-shell derived based aim better high reusability leaching profile modified discussed. In addition, critical discussion structure, composition shell, mechanism reaction, recent progress reactor systems challenges industrial sector also included review.

Biodiesel production using solid metal oxide catalysts
Biodiesel production is worthy of continued study and optimization of production procedures due to its environmentally beneficial attributes and its renewable nature. Heterogeneous transesterification is considered to be a green process. The process requires neither catalyst recovery nor aqueous treatment steps and very high yields of methyl esters can be obtained, close to the theoretical valu...
متن کاملCalcium Oxide Derived from Waste Shells of Mussel, Cockle, and Scallop as the Heterogeneous Catalyst for Biodiesel Production
The waste shell was utilized as a bioresource of calcium oxide (CaO) in catalyzing a transesterification to produce biodiesel (methyl ester). The economic and environmen-friendly catalysts were prepared by a calcination method at 700-1,000°C for 4 h. The heterogeneous catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the B...
متن کاملBiodiesel Production with Solid Catalysts
Biodiesel is usually produced by transesterification of vegetable oils or animal fats with chemical catalysts, especially in the presence of strong acidic or basic solutions, such as hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid, sodium hydroxide, sodium methoxide and potassium hydroxide. Homogeneous alkali catalysts can convert triglycerides to their corresponding fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) with hig...
متن کاملBiodiesel: A Cost-effective Fuel Using Waste Materials
The main disadvantage of biodiesel is its high price. The price of biodiesel depends on various factors such as the price of oil, methanol, catalyst, and labor. Among dif-ferent economic factors, oil accounts for the largest share of input costs of biodiesel production. In this study, first, suitable heterogeneous catalysts were identified for biodiesel production. Several studies were carried ...
متن کاملLipase Immobilized into Novel GPTMS: TMOS Derived Sol-Gels and Its Application for Biodiesel Production from Waste Oil
In this essay, lipase from Burkholderia cepacia was immobilized into 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTMS) and tetramethoxysilane (TMOS) derived sol-gels. GPTMS:TMOS molar ratio of 1:3 was found to yield the best result. The morphological characteristics were investigated based on SEM and BET analysis. Sample mean pore diameter was 39.1 nm, it had a specific surface area of 60 m2/g prior to...
